4 1.14 Jewelry - Players on the field or in the dugout area shall not wear jewelry of any kind, for safety reasons. This includes watches, bracelets, necklaces, and piercings. EXCEPTIONS: Players may wear breakaway type sports necklaces. Small unadorned starter/stud pierced earrings may be worn if bandaged or taped to prevent injury. Medical or religious tags or medallions may be worn and secured by tape if deemed necessary by the umpire-in-chief. PENALTY: When a first-time occurrence is noted, a warning shall be given to all players on both teams. Upon the second occurrence, the manager and player(s) will be ejected from the game. Any equipment judged by the umpire to be potentially dangerous shall be removed. 1.15 All softball players and coaches participating in sanctioned DYS Softball tournaments shall wear the approved “official” DYS Softball patch on the left sleeve of their uniform jersey or the upper left chest of the jersey. Managers/Coaches 1.16 All coaches will be attired in a neat and professional manner during games. 1.17 All coaches must be dressed identically. Example: If one coach wears a uniform, all coaches must wear a uniform. If one coach wears long pants, all must wear identical pants. If one coach wears shorts, all must wear identical shorts. 1.18 All District, Regional and State Tournament managers and coaches may wear baseball uniforms identical to the players with the DYB patch or alternatively: • PANTS - Coaches may wear only black, navy blue, gray or khaki color long pants ("Dockers" style plain or pleated). Cargo pants, coaching pants, or jeans/denims cannot be worn. • SHORTS - Coaches may wear only black, navy blue, gray or khaki color ("Dockers" style plain or pleated) shorts or black, navy blue, gray golf shorts. Cargo shorts, coaching shorts, or jean / denim shorts of any color shall not be worn. • SHIRTS - If Coaches do not wear a team jersey, coaches may wear polo shirts, coaching shirts, golf shirts, and sports shirts. All coaches’ shirts must be identical style and the same color. DYB/DYS patches must be placed on the left sleeve centered, two inches above the bottom of the sleeve. 1.19 CAPS – Baseball caps matching the players’ team caps shall be worn by all coaches. No coach will be allowed on the field without a cap. Ladies may wear visors instead of caps. 1.20 SHOES - Shoes shall be a coaches’ style shoe, tennis shoe, athletic shoe, closed toe leather shoe, etc. Coaches shall not wear boots, sandals, flip flops, Crocs, work shoes, or any shoes, which in the opinion of the DYB/DYS tournament director, are not appropriate for the playing field. . Penalty: Teams, Players, and Coaches who do not comply with this dress code shall be removed from the game and not allowed to return for the entire tournament or until the uniform violation(s) are corrected. No exceptions to this policy.
