Official Statement of Policy It is the policy of DYS to promote the development of strong character, a posi.ve a.tude, a sense of responsibility, and good ci.zenship in youngsters, using the game of so.ball as a vehicle. It is the purpose of DYS to achieve this goal through fair play, good sportsmanship, and congenial fellowship, with adult leaders providing a posi.ve example while atemp.ng to limit injuries caused by overexer.on. It is strictly against the policy of DYS for any person, either as a par.cipant or a spectator, to engage in arguments, use abusive language, harass umpires, or exhibit any behavior that is not in keeping with the general intent of this policy statement. Team coaches are required to abide by this policy statement, and all parents and other adults are strongly encouraged to do so.
